What Are Solar Tax Credits?

Solar Tax Credits - Residential Home With Solar Panels

A tax credit gives you a reduction in your income tax. The federal residential solar energy credit is one of the tax credits that you can claim and is available now through the end of 2032. You can claim your tax credits for a percentage of your solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, PV cells, contractor labor for installation, permit fees, inspection costs, etc. If you don’t have enough tax liability to match the tax credit amount in the year of installation, the remaining credit rolls over to the next tax year, so it is not a use it or lose it situation.

The best part about solar tax credits is that they have no dollar limit! If you pay $10,000 or more than $100,000, you are eligible for a 30% tax break. You’ll be doing your part to save the environment while you are saving on taxes.

Do You Receive Tax Credits For A Home Office?

Do You Receive Tax Credits For A Home Office_

You can now receive tax credit deductions for a home office or a residence that you use for commercial purposes. As long as the residence belongs to you (owned and not leased), you can claim a tax credit. It may, however, be a bit complicated if your residence and business are in the same building. If most of the solar PV system expenses go towards your residential expenses, you can claim the tax return as an individual. If it’s mostly for business expenses, you can claim tax credits under your business’s tax return.

Take advantage of tax reductions and energy cost savings by calling the professionals at Energy Unleashed. We will help you to install a solar PV system and get the necessary permits you need to be able to claim your solar tax credits!
